Lip fillers are the perfect way to restore volume and plumpness to lips which may be loosing their shape or elasticity. Gentle enhancement may be appropriate and you can rely on our Specialist Doctors, with years of experience.
Dermal lip fillers contain Hyaluronic Acid (a substance which naturally occurs in the body) based filler such as Juvaderm or Restylane. The lip injections show results quickly, within 48 hours, and are an effective solution typically lasting 6-12 months.
Please note, that our doctors do not agree with over-enhancement of the lips. The use of dermal filler in young patients (e.g. under age 25) is only undertaken in exceptional circumstances here at Freyja Medical.
Prior to treatment you may chose to have anaesthetic cream applied to the area. The fillers themselves also contain anaesthetic to make things more comfortable.
Too often we see that ‘Duck lip’ look that occurs when too much or the wrong filler type has been used. This is why it is vital to ensure your practitioner has extensive experience and knowledge of facial anatomy and filler use, like our doctors do.
Lip fillers are injected into the lip in the form of a syringe of a substance called hyaluronic acid ( a substance that is found naturally in the body). Typically a lip filler treatment would require one or two syringes, depending upon the desired effects that needs to be created.
It’s hugely important to us at Freyja Medical that our clients achieve the results they want. We believe this starts with a thorough consultation.
You will have the time you need to talk things through with our highly trained medical practitioners. We will take the time to discuss aspects of your skin or appearance you may be unhappy with, your desired results, costs and timings. We want you to leave your consultation feeling confident, fully informed and happy with any decisions you have made.
Dermal fillers, including lip fillers, involve small injections under the skin. Some people describe a small scratch or sting as the needle goes in. To make it all more comfortable we apply ‘numbing’ cream (local anaesthetic cream) to the area beforehand. Sometimes a client prefers us to inject some local anaesthetic to completely ‘numb’ the area, but this is not often necessary.
Afterwards there may be some swelling or bruising. The swelling usually fades within 48 hours but any bruising may take a little longer. Most people experience very little of this.
At Freyja Medical we believe that you need to work with the natural shape of the lips to enhance definition and volume. Attempting to alter the shape of the lips with fillers unnaturally will usually end up looking false and ‘ducky’.
This is why we only have experience medical professionals doing our treatments with extensive training in these techniques as well as a thorough understanding of the anatomy of the lips.
Lip fillers typically last 6-9 months on average. This can vary depending on several factors including the volume of filler injected and lifestyle factors such as smoking or sun exposure.
