Freyja Medical was approached by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board towards the end of last year to help out with the long waiting times to see a dermatology specialist at the local hospital.
We are currently undertaking NHS dermatology work here at our clinic in Wrexham centre (October 2019). In the past, we have had very encouraging feedback from the commissioners and the patients who have been to see us (see below).
Dr Dean and Dr Thorsteinsson, who lead our team, have 20 years’ combined experience in NHS and private secondary care dermatology. They are experienced in diagnosing and treating all common skin disease. Over the years, they have been active in teaching medical students (Cardiff and Keele Universities), GPs and nurses, and written educational material on dermatology for such publications as British Medical Journal Learning.
Please note, that we are unable to take direct NHS referrals from GPs at the time of writing. If you have a skin problem requiring specialist opinion, ask your GP to refer you to the local hospital. The NHS commissioners will be involved in helping to decide which NHS provider is best suited to address your particular concern.
