SkinPen Microneedling

Microneedling - What is it used for?

  • Ageing Skin
  • Lines and wrinkles
  • Skin texture changes
  • Scars / Acne Scarring
  • Stretch Marks

The SkinPen microneedling device is an award winning medical-grade, state-of-the-art precision tool available only through medical professionals. SkinPen works by creating thousands of micro-injuries to the dermis of your skin to stimulate your own natural production of new collagen and elastin.

See our Blog Page for a first hand review of what to expect from micrineedling.

Microneedling is suitable for all skin types

SkinPen is the only microneedling device in the world to be FDA approved (Federal Drug Administration, USA). Other devices have failed as their producers have been unable to prove a zero risk of cross-contamination between patients.

Most patients will see improvement after only one treatment, however, a series of 3-6 treatments is typically recommended. Our experienced team will advise you on the best treatment protocol to suit your needs.

We usually recommend combining microneedling with ‘PRP’ or platelet rich plasma. This kick-starts the new collagen production and the benefits are seen much sooner.

The SkinPen® Advantage

  • FDA CLEARED Microneedling Pen
  • CE Mark medical grade registration provides practices in Europe with a safe, reliable and effective device compliant and certified to ISO & BSI standard
  • Laboratory Tested and Validated to prevent the risk of cross contamination

It’s hugely important to us at Freyja Medical that our patients achieve the results they want. We believe this starts with a thorough consultation.

You will have the time you need to talk things through with our highly trained medical practitioners. We will take the time to discuss aspects of your skin or appearance you may be unhappy with, your desired results, costs and timings. We want you to leave your consultation feeling confident, fully informed and happy with any decisions you have made. Our bespoke Skin/Deep Methodology for consultation and assessment will make sure we give you the right advice on any treatments to fully address your concerns while still maintaining a natural, but refreshed look.

Micro-needling (also known as collagen induction therapy) is a procedure that uses a device with a number of tiny needles to puncture the first layers of your skin which creates tiny micro-injuries in it. These micro-injuries trigger the body to create healthy, new, collagen-rich tissue in a natural way. We are stimulating your own body’s healing mechanism to produce a rejuvenation effect!

There are 2 main types of microneedling; one with a roller device (such as Dermarolla) and one with a mechanised pen device (such as SkinPen). It is generally accepted nowadays that the pen device gives a more controlled and precise treatment. The SkinPen device is the ONLY device that is approved by the FDA in America.

No! Before the treatment is carried out you will have prescription strength ‘numbing’ cream applied to the treatment area. This ensures you will be comfortable and relaxed throughout.

The great thing about this treatment is there’s really no significant downtime. Straight afterwards you will be a bit red of face for the first day and then the next couple of days the skin may be slightly pink or dry but nothing major — you can still do your normal things.

We will provide you with an aftercare cream (free of charge) to use in the first 24 hours to protect your skin.
